Had our first looker
April 9th, 2007
Yesterday we had the first looker at the house. A nice gay couple, about the same age as us. They loved it! They spent an hour here with Fuzzy as he showed them some of the features of the house. The older man said they had looked at 22 houses so far and this was their favorite by far. We think they may make an offer, it would be nice to sell to the first person to look.

Progress?
March 22nd, 2007
I think we’re making progress. I’m finished with spreading mulch and not much more needed on the yard. Yippee! Regret missing AMVIV but there’s always next year.
Pictures from this morning, showing spring buds and our progress. I went to the end of the driveway and took some pictures of the neighborhood to show Paul too:
A Routine I Don’t Want to be Routine
March 18th, 2007
Fuzzy and I have fallen into a work routine here: We start working on the house around 10 am, go to about 6 pm then watch a movie and go to bed. Two more weeks and we should be done, thank goodness!
The GP survived the flood! Water didn’t get high enough to damage it, I was a teensy bit worried.
Last night, the movie was Walk The Line. We both liked it, I would recommend it to people who like a good romance. River Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon were brilliant as the leads. And the movie provided more proof, as if it were needed, that anyone can sing country music. ![]()
Going to Ireland?
March 18th, 2007
I’ve been talking with my friend Jimskater again.
He’s been tempting me with visions of Ireland in May and I may have given in to temptation.
By the end of May, the house should be sold. I have to be here for the close of escrow but that should give me plenty of warning. If the house is sold early, no problems with going at all, or if the house doesn’t sell until late again no problems. The only interference is if the house sells any time from mid April to early May. So I’ll wait to buy tickets until early May.
But if not Ireland, then it’s the family picnic in July. ![]()
Weather changes like… the weather?
March 16th, 2007
Yesterday was a preview of summer, high of 81. Today there is a nor’easter brewing, afternoon high only going to be mid forties. Yuck! Only good thing is no more yardwork for a few days.
I should have moved my GP into the garage, right now it’s parked in the carport. That is the first place that floods if the nor’easter hits at high tide.
Naughty!

We played hooky from house work today.
After loafing around this morning, we went out to lunch, then a little shopping. We came back home late afternoon and had a shrimp salad for dinner, then watched a chick flick. Fuzzy says it was a great way to spend his birthday.
The chick flick was “The Notebook.” We loved it, it was happily ever after, after. Some movies make you realize what is precious in life.
Happy Birthday to Fuzzy!
March 15th, 2007
Today is a milepost birthday for him, he turns 62. Now can collect Social Security if he wants. Not going to though, too many restrictions if he still works. We plan on continuing to work, just not as careers.
Reading back on my past posts makes me tired! We’re making progress on the house, it’s just slow. A guy in our local MINI club just posted that he sold his house after being on the market for a total of 6 hours
Hope that happens to us too!
Felt like Bogart in the African Queen

All that was missing was the leeches.
Yesterday I cleared a jungle of bamboo.
Shoulders and arms are hurting a bit today but the swamp doesn’t look so snakey anymore. I have about another week of work on the yard to have it presentable, last project is to spread bark on the cleared sections.
Fuzzy did more packing yesterday. Almost everything is now in the Hauliday Inn and ready to roll. I hope we get an offer fast, I don’t want to just hang around.
I ordered the new carpets from a local discount place, should arrive in about a week. I like the color, it’s much lighter than what is in the house now, should brighten up the place a bit.
Virginia is nice and spring is the best season here. A lot of people have asked how we can bear to leave this place, it is sylvan beauty at the edge of a city. But it just doesn’t suit us, we’re more the “motor roar over the dunes” type. The main thing we’re going to miss here is the local MINI club. Lots of good people that can’t be replaced made this area fun. The ones we’ll miss the most is the Behave family: Obe, Mis, and no.
Love their screen names. ![]()
